Great News! I finally got around to re-writing the spreadsheet. Here is what I was able to accomplish:

  • Shortened the amount of time it takes to update (about 5 minutes once things are initially set up)
  • Reduced the number of sheets in the spreadsheet (less clutter)
  • Reduced the number of pages that need to be copy and pasted now (down to one)
  • Changed the algorithm to something that is simpler and less prone to errors
  • Kept the league projector integration: [1]

If you don't have excel or are having troubles with your version of excel then I would recommend getting OpenOffice. It's was I primarily use when editing and running this spreadsheet. And it's FREE! You can get it here: [2]

With version 1.00 you will notice strength of record and quality of play. They are defined below.

[edit] Strength of Record

Strength of Record = (Total number of wins of opponents you have defeated) - (Total number of losses of opponents that have beaten you)

This is measure of how good a team is. It rewards beating good teams and punishes for losing to bad teams.

[edit] Quality of Play

Quality of Play = (Actual total point differential) - (Predicted total point differential)

It is essentially how many points (total) that team has beaten (or not beaten) the spread by. I feel it is a good indicator of whether a team is playing better or worse than expected.
